The SWYA Tutors:
Andrea Newman
Andrea has been teaching yoga since 1994 and is based in Bristol. Andrea has a diverse yoga background and she qualified as a BWY Diploma Course Tutor in 2003. As well as training yoga teachers, Andrea also teaches In-Service Training days and workshops for qualified yoga teachers and has taught at the BWY National Congress. Andrea has served as the UK representative on the European Union of Yoga. She continues to run the Yoga Village UK website which she launched in 1999 to support yoga teachers UK-wide and to promote the practice of yoga in the UK.
Andrea has a degree in biochemistry and qualified as a Rolfer™ in 2008 at the European Rolfing Association centre in Munich. Rolfing is a type of body work which explores body posture and movement in terms of anatomy and habitual movement patterns. Her continued research into how the body works with gravity continues to influence and inspire her teaching and practice of yoga. Andrea finds yoga to be a great healer and support for life, a way of developing compassion and resilience, and a path which is open to everyone who wishes to explore life and to develop a greater expression of their authentic self. |
